What savings can I expect when switching to LED lighting?
A 50W 230V GU10 halogen can be replaced with the same amount of 5W LED 230V GU10 LED equivalents, with NO change in illumination and a huge 90% reduction in energy consumption. One reason behind this is because the majority of LED lamps give you, on average, at least 30,000 hours of life, compared to a GU10 halogen which gives just 2,000 hours.

What is a beam angle?
The beam angle refers to the spread of light source from a luminaire or lamp, and is measured in degrees. Most products and manufacturers will include a beam angle on their description, but unfortunately not all manufacturers use this specfic terminology. Sometimes you may see the word 'Flood', 'Spot' and 'Medium'. Double check that the lamp you are buying macthes the beam angle of the one you are replacing, to make the most out of your LED.
Is it better for the environment to use LED lights?
In short, yes. They are much more energy efficient than halogen, incandescent, fluorescent and discharge lighting. They do not give off ultraviolet, which means they will not be attracting flies or mosquiotes, giving the user a nicer, cleaner and hassle free environment. As mentioned above, they have a longer life than older technology, meaning less of these products end up in land fill, whilst also lowering maintenance costs. What's not to like?
